Privacy Policy
Privacy Summary at a Glance
True Scale Ruler is engineered with a strict privacy-by-design philosophy. We do not require account registration, we do not set tracking cookies, and we never collect, store, or transmit your measurement coordinates, object photos, or personal data to any external servers.
1. Introduction
At True Scale Ruler (accessible at https://truescaleruler.com), your privacy is our core operational priority. This Privacy Policy outlines what information is processed when you use our web application, how local browser data is handled, and our commitment to an ad-free, tracker-free measurement utility.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
Unlike conventional web applications that log user sessions and profile behavior, True Scale Ruler operates entirely client-side. We strictly do not collect:
- No Personal Identification: We do not ask for your name, email, physical address, phone number, or payment details.
- No Measurement Data: What you measure on your screen—whether hardware parts, jewelry sizes, angles, or documents—remains completely private to your local device session.
- No Camera or Sensor Feeds: True Scale Ruler does not request camera or microphone permissions. Contact measurement is performed directly on your display glass.
- No Third-Party Analytics Trackers: We do not load invasive tracking pixels, Google Tag Manager cross-site beacons, or fingerprinting scripts.
3. Local Storage Usage (On-Device Only)
To deliver a smooth user experience across visits, True Scale Ruler utilizes your browser's native localStorage API. This data never leaves your device and consists solely of:
trueruler_ppi: Your calibrated physical screen pixel density (PPI/DPI) so you do not have to recalibrate every time you open the app.trueruler_theme: Your chosen visual theme preference (darkorlight).trueruler_unit: Your preferred default unit of measurement (cm,mm, orin).trueruler_audio: Your preferred audio tick sound toggle state.
You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or by clicking "Reset Calibration" within the calibration modal.
4. Progressive Web App (PWA) & Offline Caching
True Scale Ruler incorporates a Service Worker (sw.js) that caches static application assets (HTML, CSS, JS, SVG icons, and web fonts) locally on your device. This allows the ruler, protractor, and calipers to function 100% offline without an active internet connection. No tracking or telemetry is performed via the service worker.
5. Web Server Delivery & Hosting Logs
When you request pages from our website, standard web server access logs may temporarily record technical network information, including your IP address, browser user-agent, operating system, and request timestamps. These logs are maintained strictly for network security, DDoS prevention, and server performance diagnostics, and are periodically purged.
6. External Links & Third Parties
True Scale Ruler may occasionally link to educational standards (such as the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standard specification). We have no control over the privacy practices of external third-party sites and encourage you to review their respective policies.
7. Policy Revisions
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological improvements or regulatory developments. Any revisions will be reflected on this page with an updated modification date.
